Using resources modeled on palliative care, leaders assist congregants through the stages of merger or closure.  An educational course for leaders participating in the Lay Servant Ministry program of the United Methodist Church was created. Highlighted is the urgency of why intervention is necessary through the utilization of case studies. Throughout the project, field notes were collected.  At the conclusion of camp, follow-up interviews were held re-addressing the pre-camp interviews to quantify strengths and weaknesses for the campers, custodial parents and volunteers. The author explored opportunities to bring renewed vitality to a congregation through fulfilling the baptismal promises.
