I used the phenomenological research method to document the living experience of ten members, proving that not every declining church is destined to die. Alletzhauser interviewed active United methodists in local church ministries as a participant observer using open-ended and narrative therapy questions. The results demonstrate how stories of Support circulate in local churches despite denominational policies and statements of Non-support. The project identifies sociological realities that confront local congregations, setting them within a biblical and theological framework. The study is based on a Factor Analysis of 155 questionnaires, gathered from individuals who attend 12 UCC churches and one conference. It reveals that dual-paycheck families do not value any function of a church's ministry more than single-paycheck families.  It also reveals that the more one is involved in church activities, the more one values all church activities.
