Using the original sources of their diaries, letters and published works, their own words are transposed from the written form onto the stage as two-act dramatic monologues. Two completed scripts are included in this work; they are the Fry and Stowe plays which have been performed before live audiences whose feedback is included (chapter 7) in the work and whose reactions informed the re-writing of the finished scripts. Those scripts, with historical introductions and study guides, comprise chapters 3 and 5 of the work. In approaching the issue, a series of regional workshop days designed to meet certification requirements for catechists in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston were conducted for catechists in urban multi-cultural parishes.  In design and content, effort was made to provide an educational experience that integrated sound educational methodology and an appreciation of the indigenous beauty and culture of the participants.  Included in the study is a scriptural and theoretical base for the approach taken (part I) and the rationale, content, and evaluation of the workshop sessions (part II)."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133925486100480,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:27:01.980Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:04:06Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:22:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7970267c-8c72-4113-8f5f-808166d06b0a","accessControl_ssim":["3ebf18d5-2cf5-4949-8e83-9460b3cb3fc2"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Love in the Sermon on the Mount (a practical Bible study)"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:04:05Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:42:19Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["40876b00-23f4-4027-91bf-a14b1af83a7d"],"hasLease_ssim":["9ecb0391-a22c-4cab-b1d1-74acd62c4ff5"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"advisor_tesim":["Meredith Handspicker"],"year_tesim":["1986"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Edward F Grant"],"publisher_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"subject_tesim":["Bible--Study","Sermon on the mount","Love--Biblical teaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The special emphasis in the project is on the practical nature of this Bible study.  The participants in the study had to practice what they were taught as an integral part of the study.  That is to say, they had to practice love for themselves, for their families, for their church, for their community, for their country, and for the world as a necessary part of the study.  There were ten participants and the object was to instill in them the principle that Christian love is only authentic when it is put into practice.  Thus the whole intent is that after the project, producing Christian love on various levels would become a natural and continuous way of life.  The major result of the study was that it inspired the participants to take seriously the practical application of their faith to their fellow men and women, particularly those who are in need."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133658605682689,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:22:47.463Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:04:06Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:28:52Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cce8d33e-d83d-443b-b023-cdc1444fe5ab","accessControl_ssim":["1c8a5078-a88c-4647-a305-e63f98d577ad"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A structural approach to meditation and spirituality for Unitarians and Universalists"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:04:05Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:00:59Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["cea6057c-1519-4287-9f55-706559411719"],"hasLease_ssim":["7f47e0f7-da43-4273-ad4c-3e81754f6854"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"advisor_tesim":["Meredith Handspicker"],"year_tesim":["1986"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Eugene Richard Widrick"],"publisher_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"subject_tesim":["Unitarian Universalist Association","Meditation","Meaning (Psychology)","Spiritual life"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project provides an introduction to spiritual discipline, focused on meditation, through a behavioral or structural approach, for Unitarians and Universalists. The historical development of confirmation is traced from its roots in the early church down to the twentieth century.  A case study is also presented describing one congregation's attempt to renew its practice of confirmation.  A traditional tendency to over-emphasize confirmation at the expense of baptism is questioned as well as typical methods of confirmation preparation. Confirmation is related to its roots in baptism and the process of initiating children into the church.  Encouragement is given to less structured and more individual methods of confirmation preparation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134186019487744,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:31:10.444Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":302,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"Dissertation","hits":1,"label":"Dissertation"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Conrad S Pecevich","hits":2,"label":"Conrad S Pecevich"},{"value":"A Rand Peabody","hits":1,"label":"A Rand Peabody"},{"value":"Abel Vilcapoma","hits":1,"label":"Abel Vilcapoma"},{"value":"Adele Smith-Penniman","hits":1,"label":"Adele Smith-Penniman"},{"value":"Alan C Macy","hits":1,"label":"Alan C Macy"},{"value":"Alan W Grant","hits":1,"label":"Alan W Grant"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[{"value":"Pastoral counselors and clients","hits":4,"label":"Pastoral counselors and clients"},{"value":"Congregations--Internal conflict","hits":2,"label":"Congregations--Internal conflict"},{"value":"Family systems theory","hits":2,"label":"Family systems theory"},{"value":"Pastoral counselors","hits":2,"label":"Pastoral counselors"},{"value":"Psyche","hits":2,"label":"Psyche"},{"value":"Relation (Theology)","hits":2,"label":"Relation (Theology)"}],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Psychology","hits":30,"label":"Psychology"},{"value":"Pastoral counseling","hits":28,"label":"Pastoral counseling"},{"value":"Psychotherapy","hits":21,"label":"Psychotherapy"},{"value":"Church work","hits":18,"label":"Church work"},{"value":"Clergy","hits":16,"label":"Clergy"},{"value":"Pastoral psychology","hits":14,"label":"Pastoral psychology"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[{"value":"United States","hits":5,"label":"United States"},{"value":"Japan","hits":2,"label":"Japan"},{"value":"Ghana--Accra","hits":1,"label":"Ghana--Accra"},{"value":"Guatemala","hits":1,"label":"Guatemala"},{"value":"India","hits":1,"label":"India"},{"value":"Kenya","hits":1,"label":"Kenya"}],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":303,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Andover Newton Theological School","hits":303,"label":"Andover Newton Theological School"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":303,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"1982","hits":27,"label":"1982"},{"value":"1992","hits":22,"label":"1992"},{"value":"1986","hits":21,"label":"1986"},{"value":"1987","hits":21,"label":"1987"},{"value":"1988","hits":20,"label":"1988"},{"value":"1996","hits":19,"label":"1996"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Andover Newton Theological School","hits":303,"label":"Andover Newton Theological School"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":303,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Andover Newton Theological School","hits":303,"label":"Andover Newton Theological School"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":303,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":24,"next_page":25,"prev_page":23,"total_pages":31,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":230,"total_count":303,"first_page?":false,"last_page?":false}}}
