The major presupposition is that prayer expresses a growing relationship with God. During the months of August through December 2000, I interviewed thirty United Methodist pastors in the Greater Orlando area. Findings show most pastors believe they are too busy to pray; adversity reminds pastors of their deeper need for God through prayer; the presence of God in prayer comes most often through the means of grace and especially through corporate worship; and, mentors give the greatest influence on practicing prayer."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["6c1e11e8-b66e-47b6-8fe9-6c546c20935c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133959280656384,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:27:34.209Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:02:43Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:32:01Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5c014dbd-cf9e-45f6-82cb-5c2b587c9525","accessControl_ssim":["47137d63-9396-4ee9-aff7-a516ff6c1ae6"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The writing of a play based on the book of Job: 'The Passion of Job'"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:02:42Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:50:17Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["538af79c-759c-44cf-b9e3-a49e11161aa3"],"hasLease_ssim":["1fd62f9b-1eeb-43a4-a52a-034a080b4e7b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Charles Killian"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Patricia B Looper"],"publisher_tesim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Religion and drama","Bible. This project explores the effect of introducing the Celtic understanding of God's presence in the world on the religious and prayer practices of college students. A small group of students met weekly to discuss articles on Celtic spirituality and to review prayers from the Celtic tradition. A pre- and posttest design with no comparison group measured changes in their perception of the presence of God in their lives. They also recorded daily responses to two questions: How have I experienced the presence of God today? and How have I reacted to the presence of God today? These responses were coded using categories suggested by perceived manifestations of God's presence in a person's life: connectedness with God, others, and creation; right relationships; a greater sense of the greatness of God; occurrence of private prayer and corporate worship; acceptance of self and one's gifts; a sense of being led or called; freedom and peace in the midst of crisis or calamity; sacrifice and power in daily life; and, other categories that emerged from the data. This study suggests that the participants experienced the truth communicated in Scripture that God is present in our world and that God's presence is something that can be experienced in a variety of ways and places, chiefly through a sense of connectedness with other persons rather than directly to God or to creation. Furthermore it suggests that being exposed to a different view of God's presence can increase a person's sensitivity to that presence. Participants expressed an appreciation for the Celtic integration of the Christian faith into all aspects of their lives and came to see the reality that all that we do is prayer. However, this awareness did not substantially affect the time and manner in which the participants prayed to God."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["6c1e11e8-b66e-47b6-8fe9-6c546c20935c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134249379692544,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:32:10.869Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:02:35Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:38:40Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d779181d-dab8-42a7-97b7-9f67af22c746","accessControl_ssim":["a5f85660-26d0-45cb-bcc6-a39ba67e2df2"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Worship change to reach non-Christians in traditional Danish evangelical churches"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:02:34Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:17:36Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d22e5f78-d8bd-4995-9670-23a24d757d89"],"hasLease_ssim":["f8aace4a-0b55-4558-a3dd-7f3aee51bb11"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Howard A Snyder"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"location_tesim":["Denmark"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Christian A Nielsen"],"keyword_tesim":["Experiment in worship"],"publisher_tesim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Worship","Experiment in worship","Church history","Evangelicalism","Missions"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of the study was to examine how churches which reach non-Christians in a traditional Danish church context have transitioned their worship experience and to learn which emphases and forms characterize their worship. Training usually takes the form of learning from life's experiences or from books and seminars. The purpose of this research was to study the impact of a practical training program with a theoretical, biblical base upon the confidence level of youth pastors. The three-day seminar was designed to facilitate deeper discussion on key biblical passages that reflect the paradoxical life of Jesus and how he trained his disciples. These were Luke 24:13-25; John 5:2-9; Mark 7:24-30; and John 8:1-11. The seminar also gave participants four basic tools to use in counseling: symptom prescription, reframing, scaling questions, and the miracle question. This research was an evaluative study in the quasi-experimental mode utilizing a pre- and posttest design and comparing a control and experimental group. The main testing tool gave answers from a variety of collecting tools such as multiple-choice, scaling questions and open-ended questions. The latter were evaluated by thematic analysis finding categories and themes evident in the youth pastors' responses. A final interview was conducted by phone with eight main participants asking seven questions for their consideration."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["6c1e11e8-b66e-47b6-8fe9-6c546c20935c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134807364730880,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:41:03.005Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:02:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:27:45Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1d83e95c-1af7-43c7-9d4a-7b44c810140f","accessControl_ssim":["6db4fe3f-df5c-4bf1-abbe-a973429cd54d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Discovering dynamics of a paradigm for pastoral leadership in the Church of God"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:02:06Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:00:07Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["96ac55cf-ed55-494c-9ece-a4159ac9d101"],"hasLease_ssim":["da22efe7-88d8-4088-9873-bb93be1d0a82"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Leslie A Andrews"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Tony L Richie"],"publisher_tesim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Clergy","Church of God","Pastoral theology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The vital area of pastoral leadership is too often neglected or only acknowledged in the area of church administration. Consequently, pastoral leadership development and practice suffers. Pastoral leadership is an integration of theology, spirituality, and ministry incorporating all pastoral roles and functions. The aim of this study has been to ascertain principles pastoral leaders within the Church of God have found helpful in building effective pastoral leadership. Principles of leadership have been identified from a study of the relevant literature, including the Bible. Specific applications of pastoral leadership principles to Church of God pastorates, and any alterations or adaptations for the unique needs of pastoral leaders in the Church of God, have been identified via personal interviews and a representative survey within the organization itself. Pastoral leadership in this study is 'guiding a congregation for God'--specifying that the Lord uses a pastor to help guide his or her congregation in becoming and doing all that Christ wills for it to become and do. The theological foundation for pastoral leadership is laid through an articulation of the nature of the Church, the nature of Christian leadership, and the nature of pastoral leadership in keeping with the Pentecostal heritage of the Church of God."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["6c1e11e8-b66e-47b6-8fe9-6c546c20935c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133974124298240,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:27:48.365Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:02:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:34:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"8a32f82b-4b73-4d68-89a5-1f669ca45aff","accessControl_ssim":["85f1ee80-cc7a-4507-ba24-109b0c3cf590"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Using strategic small groups to improve church health at Rockledge Baptist Church, Rockledge, FL"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:02:07Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:11:23Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["56ae2a97-b810-4ac3-8d67-a3fe2261004c"],"hasLease_ssim":["c80023f5-e3c0-4615-935d-4417c2ce9a56"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Thomas Tumblin"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["David G Rhodes"],"publisher_tesim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Rockledge Baptist Church (Rockledge, Fla)","Small groups","Church growth"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this study was to evaluate the health of Rockledge Baptist Church using NCD's survey and to see if strategic small groups targeting specific health characteristics are an effective way of improving health. During the seventeen years of pastoral ministry in India, my experiences reveal that lay people have potential to do effective ministry both inside and outside churches. They are looking for ways, opportunities and guidance from pastoral leadership. The purpose of this research was to evaluate a ten-week self-designed and self-directed study program, designed to equip laity for effective ministry in evangelism. Thirty lay men and women were chosen from a local Methodist church in South India to study the lessons. Their affective, cognitive and behavioral changes were assessed by using pretest, mid-test and posttest questionnaires. Major findings included an effective method of ministry of evangelism, equipping lay people, emphasizing spiritual gifts and designing training material."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["6c1e11e8-b66e-47b6-8fe9-6c546c20935c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134811344076800,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:41:06.799Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":243,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
