The design of the project included the administration of a survey given to the parishioners of East Shore United Methodist Church who have expressed their concerns as the church transitions into a vital multicultural congregation. The project included the administration of a survey to all appointed pastors-in-charge in the NCC. This study determined through surveys, interviews, and research behaviors these pastors believed effective for church growth and the application of these behaviors in the church. The most important discovery that the author made was the state of disconnect among many pastors between what they believed about church growth and what was practiced in the local church. This state of disconnect may be a factor in church decline. A survey offering ideals evaluated how well pastors yielded to God within their ministry vocations. Demographics provided insight into detailed kenotic inclination. As a result, pastors showed areas of resistance and embrace of kenosis. Demographics illustrated kenosis highly among female clergy and deacons. Length of time in ministry reflected an ebb and flow. Interior influences like struggles with sexual issues, low self-esteem, and moral conflicts contributed to a greater experience of the dark night of the soul. Eleven participants met for twelve weeks.  A pre- and post-test questionnaire measured the effectiveness of their ability to minister healing.  Evaluation of the data showed the participants learned the healing paradigm.
