He believed that this was partially due to a lack of prayer regarding the preaching. He therefore led the church in cultivating an atmosphere of prayer for the preaching through deepening his own prayer life, teaching a six-week lesson series on intercessory prayer, and preaching four sermons on how to have a powerful prayer life. Persuasive preaching's goal is to convince the listener to align his or her attitude and action with the message of the sermon. This study seeks to discover a paradigm for this. The praxis director chose twelve individuals to participate in surveys and interviews. The director preached a series of four sermons focused on one general theme. After the sermon series, the director conducted a ministry program directly connected to the theme of the sermon series. This project identifies ways to motivate the hearer to adopt the action and attitude of the text utilizing standard research practices.
