Research includes brief historical overviews of: catechistical methodology from Mesopotamia to present, printed catechisms and educational theory from the sixteenth century, early adolescent learning and memorization theory.  Market research indicated no availability of curricula containing all six important educational elements: question, answer, supporting Scripture verse, Scripture reference, verbal explanation and/or illustration, visual illustration. Training materials were prepared, tested in class situations, and critiqued by people with expertise in the areas stated in the thesis.  The study has shown that acceptability by the targeted audience and adequate educational quality are key factors for successful publication of materials.
