Distinctions between rural and urban locales and ages and occupations of respondents most noticeably affected these perceptions, while congregational size and sex of respondents made little difference. Significant difference of viewpoint emerge, reinforcing the importance of character and relationally based ministry for pastors. A quantitative, descriptive method of research using a mailed questionnaire was employed.  Many differences were found.
