He bases this assertion on results of interviews conducted in three midwestern seminaries.  He demonstrates that an intercultural approach to seminary formation is consistent with church documents on seminary training, as well as with contemporary theology.  The author explains at length the essential cultural categories necessary for gaining an understanding of cultural difference, which is the key to intercultural communication. The Whitehead model (Method in Ministry 1995) is used. Chapter one presents a brief history of seminary formation and selected current ecclesial documents. Chapter two focuses on mid-life and faith development theories. Chapter three contains student and alumni survey data. Chapter four brings the components into dialogue.
