Through ethnographic study, research of church traditions and teaching, the author engaged the operative theologies of local people in critical correlation with the heritage of the US Black Church and Catholic tradition. Chapter one explores liturgical documents. Chapter two is a description of Sunday worship and content from interviews with parishioners. Chapter three is a conversation among the voices of experience, church's teaching and African American culture.
