The first idea, theocracy, was George Fox's intent when he developed the Friends decision-making process. The second idea, multigenerational emotional process, comes from Bowen's systems theory.  These ideas are blended into a theory of multigenerational spiritual/emotional process designed to help a meeting identify its destructive forces and helpful resources.  A Friends meeting was taught a course related to the above ideas and partially applied them for six months. It helps adult children understand that an elderly parent's problem behavior can be based on discouragement.  Behavioral modification methods can be used to lend encouragement to elderly parents, to build better family relationships, to support the elderly's decision-making, and to enable them to sustain and deepen faith in God. An institutional ethics committee is established to address this dilemma.  The project explores the development of the ethics committee over its two-year history including its organization, educational focus, case review and advocacy for public policy.  It applies the concepts of event thinking and the theologically qualified ecological ethic.  The ethics committee is an excellent forum in which to raise awareness of ethical issues and strategies. In order to do so a congregation must first understand how decisions are made and how it relates to that process.  The research involved interviews with 25 community leaders in business, politics, and society who help determine the primary and secondary leaders of the community.  The primary leaders were interviewed and their style of leadership analyzed. New Testament leadership values are described.  The change in Session responsibilities from John Calvin to the present are reviewed.  The rationale for using Carver's model is explained.  Steps taken to implement the model are documented.
