Cherye offers ethical, social, and religious functions in Korean-American society: order, community, transformation. The project employs literature research to formulate a theological basis, interviews to determine congregational needs, and field study to apply parish context. Many churches appear to be unable to help Japanese Americans.  Understanding the origins of Christian faith is an approach that helps Japanese Americans interpret their history in the United States.
