This dissertation addresses this question and brings out some of the implicit theological assumptions which affect women religious to become authentically related to the church and to the larger world. In order to understand their commitments and choices, this dissertation is a study of these women's roots and renewal by a survey which is compiled and interpreted.  These women have been the leaders and have formed the heart behind the growth in the Roman Catholic church during the last twenty-five years.
