The church must change its conversation with young adults if it desires a hopeful future beyond the current generation of pastoral leadership. Through analyzing call narratives of ordained young adults, and by identifying ministry strategies of nurturing congregations, best congregational practices emerge: asking the 'call' question, mentoring, service, leadership opportunities, and connecting with the larger church. Six participants (18-35 years old) had lunch six times with the preacher. They gave sermon feedback, discussed the upcoming lectionary texts, and participated in an exit interview.
