The methodology includes a questionnaire and focus group involving tertiary level Caribbean students, as well as interviews.  The research detects a paradigm shift in core values, a technology-led change in morality and apparent breakdown in responsiveness and leadership in key social institutions, and determines that family, school, and church are still vital in transmitting wholesome values and restoring a society's moral equilibrium. This paper is the report of a study using action research involving teenage members of a suburban Chicago church in a survey and small group reflections on their attitudes towards other faiths and their understanding of religious difference. The results show that tolerant views held by these young people owe more to secular expediency than religious commitment.  Beliefs are private and rarely shared, even among close friends. Youth ministry theologians have recently begun to argue for the need to shift from focusing on the formal structure of youth ministry and rather focus on the informal structures involved in youth ministry.  This project focuses on a study of the informal structures involved in the 2006 Youth Theology Initiative (YTI) Summer Academy.  The role of the informal structure of residential life during the 2006 YTI Summer Academy is explored and is shown to have made a significant transformative impact in the lives of the youth who participated in the program. As the traditional family structure continues to change and the secular world becomes more sophisticated in its appeal, the church faces the danger of becoming irrelevant to today's young person.  In this project the biblical and psychological basis of youth ministry is examined.  A youth ministry model entertaining young people is contrasted with a model that seeks to involve the teenagers themselves in ministry.  A small group of senior high students on the south side of Atlanta are questioned concerning their level of spiritual commitment before and after a six-week ministry project involving them in an evangelistic outreach to other teens. Adult evaluators give their opinion of the effectiveness of the ministry project and an outside youth ministry expert reviews the basis of the ministry model used.
