AI is a process that can lead to vision discernment by building on past successes and creating a sense of missional alignment. AI is based on organizational and social theory that, when combined with theological understandings, provide the church and leadership with a methodology for discernment that will engage a large portion of a congregation. This is a grounded study that engaged a 1200+ membership church in a large AI. It utilizes a method of Participatory Action Research in order to develop a model of communal discernment for congregational use.
