This project focuses on determining if and/or where these feelings occur.  Traditional forms of worship use images of God that are masculine and prayers that are degrading to both men and women by focusing on guilt and shame.  However, the message that John Calvin constantly reinforced is God's love for us. The project reviews Jean Piaget's play theory, Johan Huizinga's study of play, and Jürgen Moltmann's theology of play and examines the faith development theories of James W Fowler, Fritz Oser, and Romney Moseley, focusing on the importance of imaginative play and God images. The thesis is that sexual abuse negatively affects a little girl's imagery of God and her self-esteem, but ultimately is not the final determiner of how she relates to God or how she views herself.
