Through participant-witness ethnography of my congregation and five semi-structured, open-ended interviews, I examine how God is experienced in Christian practices, especially communion, at the border wall. I conclude that borderlands experiences are not monolithic, which counters false groupings of and “othering” tropes about migrants, deportees, and activists. The reasons for this disconnect are investigated and imaginative liturgical strategies are sought to help youth passionately engage in communion. Basic qualitative, narrative analysis, and quantitative research were utilized. Data was collected through personal interviews and focus group interviews. The results show that youth generally find communion routine and done so frequently as to be commonplace. Historic Christian traditions have been co-opted into Pentecostal Eucharist traditions for 100 years; because Pentecostalism is burgeoning all over the planet, now is the time for such a theological contribution. This thesis builds upon the work of Simon Chan by affirming and critiquing evangelicalism's theological superimposition on Pentecostalism as it pertains to eucharistic theology. Chan's model is used to suggest how Pentecostals can construct eucharistic theology germane to their context and congruent with their broader theological claims. Further, it examines epiclesis as an aspect of eucharistic theology and notes its natural intersection with Pentecostal theology as the inroad to an expanded theological dialogue. The thesis discusses the implications of an American Pentecostal eucharistic theology in light of the poor. This research project explores potential reasons for this discontinuity between worship and the world, as well as related issues of cultural context. A general review of current paradigm shifts will include an overview of missio dei. An eschatological emphasis will invite a return to New Testament ecclesial practice. The aim is that through study and practice of the Lord's Supper, a dialogue will take place that recognizes and respetcs differences without breaking the bonds shared around the table.  Research included readings on the Lord's Supper, ritual, mediation, and also quantitative research provided through feedback from a class taught using the readings. This study defines and discusses individualism at the family meal table and the 'Lord's Table.'  I then discuss these findings in the light of the Gospels, First Corinthians 11, and John Calvin's writings to gain theological/historical perspective.  Finally, I argue that individualism severely weakens our experience of the Lord's Table and the Church's witness.
