This report seeks to explore how prayer and pastoral care can be revitalized for lay leaders in order for them to be more skilled and comfortable in their roles. The research used a survey to gather the thoughts and opinions of lay leaders. This will involve local churches taking a strong partnership role using various models. Large membership church leaders explained their vision and other missional church characteristics via factors, as identified by Hunsberger and Van Gelder, which led their churches in Grace Presbytery to inter into partnerships. The intial receptiveness of Grace church leaders was assessed after a PowerPoint presentation via questionaire. Factors are documented that led churches to enter into partnerships. A plan for ministry is presented for an eight-week small-group process which allows for a time of gathering together, a presentation of material for the discipline to be practiced during the following week, time for sharing the previous week's experience, a time for members to share concerns or celebrations, and a time of prayer.
