These new styles foster an 'entertainment culture,' thus producing Christians who have a limited knowledge of both scriptures, the salvation story, and the sacraments. This entertainment culture also nurtures superficial and passive responses to critical issues in the lives of members. The contention is that reclaiming the centrality of sacraments in worship will nurture the capacity of church members to respond more authentically and actively to issues in their lives and the social context. More specifically, it is suggested that both the preparation for and the practice of the sacraments deepens descipleship and creates a contextually relevant worship experience. Historic Christian traditions have been co-opted into Pentecostal Eucharist traditions for 100 years; because Pentecostalism is burgeoning all over the planet, now is the time for such a theological contribution. This thesis builds upon the work of Simon Chan by affirming and critiquing evangelicalism's theological superimposition on Pentecostalism as it pertains to eucharistic theology. Chan's model is used to suggest how Pentecostals can construct eucharistic theology germane to their context and congruent with their broader theological claims. Further, it examines epiclesis as an aspect of eucharistic theology and notes its natural intersection with Pentecostal theology as the inroad to an expanded theological dialogue. The thesis discusses the implications of an American Pentecostal eucharistic theology in light of the poor. What pastors see when they look at the biblical text is limited and enriched by context. This project examines context using a specific biblical text, Psalm 87, by creating interaction between Palestinian Christian scholars, pastors, and laypeople and their work with this text. This involved three contexts of interacting with Psalm 87 to meet this purpose: researching the work of western and Palestinian scholars, teaching a doctor of ministry class, and creating a Facebook group to stimulate inter-cultural dialogue. The author contends that in order to be holistic and successful, both the spiritual and business (temporal) development of a new church plant must work together simultaneously.  Furthermore, in order to sustain this vision, a new church planter in the A.M.E. Church needs to cultivate a support network of relationships with various people such as the bishop, presiding elder, colleagues, leaders, family, and friends to accomplish this strategy. It uses original research using the Participatory Action Research model for qualitative research in which members of a research cohort participate in the development of the model as they actively engage in the practice.
