The process and the evaluation were co-facilitated by both worship leaders. results indicate potential for application to interfaith work with Jewish and Christian congregations."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129134560182272,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:10:52.997Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:36:18Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:53:40Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"411bf3e7-70f7-48ef-803e-ed9e69c14960","accessControl_ssim":["44c68b05-1c31-4828-8fa1-e193ba44d875"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The narrative: the centrality of story to human understanding of self and God: an exploration into narrative from theological, psychological and homiletical perspectives"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:36:17Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:01:07Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["0342c1bd-6306-453d-979e-e64a25fb135c"],"hasLease_ssim":["de47a99b-3b65-441a-b919-84f8b144a300"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Charles L Campbell"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["William Stephen Hannah"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Narrative theology","Preaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Biblical narratives have demonstrated theological influence across a broad range of theological categories. Through narrative, people come to understand their identity, who they are as children of God and as members of the community of faith. It is largely through the narratives of the Bible that God discloses God's self, thus bringing the light of revelation to people. Similarly, it is through the narratives of the New Testament that we come to understand who and what Jesus Christ is, our christology. Also our ethics are greatly affected because the decisions we make and the actions we take are both greatly dependent on our sense of belonging to a community that upholds the moral and ethical standards known through biblical narratives. Recognizing the tremendous power of narrative in all of these areas and psychological areas as well, it would seem that narrative sermons hold a great potential to help church members move in positive directions both theologically and psychologically and hence spiritually. Therefore the act of ministry for this dissertation is the preaching of narrative sermons and the evaluation of the effectiveness of these sermons. The thesis is that narrative sermons can and will encourage significant and substantial growth and maturity among church members."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128055037558784,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:53:43.484Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:46:36Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:06:51Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9573a60c-495c-4a71-bc84-f340c314dab2","accessControl_ssim":["397da240-e11d-4e90-b549-b7d10ebc6fc9"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Teaching the church how to offer intercessory prayer for enemies and evildoers"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:46:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:30:23Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["30797235-3610-440d-bb7d-68f82a0998fe"],"hasLease_ssim":["63ab540b-bb34-4ad6-9b13-570c2b65a8c4"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Stanley P Saunders"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Steven Jay Voris"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Good and evil","Enemy","Prayer"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Intercessory prayer for enemies and evildoers is an advanced prayer practice that has received little attention in the church even though it is attested in scripture and examples can be found in the Christian mystical tradition. Six principles were developed: (1) Love is the essential attitude of intercession; (2) Reconciliation and forgiveness are goals; (3) Blessings are appropriate petitions; (4) Patience is required in intercession; (5) Context influences the nature of petitions; (6) Intercession is an act of mediation. an intercessory prayer workshop was developed."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128884742193152,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:06:54.752Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:42:15Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:55:34Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"4bb77aca-917e-4073-baca-ecc41fa4821b","accessControl_ssim":["8e06e676-23f1-44e8-93c9-8ae7531efc56"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["An educational resource for the Souper Bowl of Caring"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:42:15Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:21:11Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ca173294-0169-411b-b306-9fef300d2329"],"hasLease_ssim":["ba41a219-aa33-46cd-8289-6126632f37f2"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Oscar Hussel"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Bradley D Smith"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Food relief","Souper Bowl of Caring (Organization)","Hunger"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project proposes to develop and field test an educational kit that can be used in conjunction with the Souper Bowl of Caring.
