Gospel application is the author's term for the third use of the Law or sanctification.  Also, preachers often fail to include or keep in balance all three components in the sermon.  The author taught a six-week class in which participants learned to recognize and clarify the distinction among the three elements of the sermon. A process was developed involving education on the subject of Christian preaching, study groups and survey instruments to gain congregational input prior to preaching, and an evaluative method to be used during and following a sermon.  The process was then initiated and carried out in a congregational setting.
