Three focus groups helped understanding of issues, fashioning of goals, and crafting of the 'faith and reading survey.'  An nth name selection from a church list in a 4,000 sample and 1,021 useable responses.  The survey measured demographics, five behavioral and attitudinal areas of reading, and horizontal and vertical faith levels, making it possible to relate faith level development to religious readership. In the course of this project the pastor worked with small groups of individuals who share similar painful experiences.
