The purpose of this study was to explore how transplanted vocational ministers developed a sense of belonging to the city. The study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews and the data was analyzed using the constant comparative method. This study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with seven pastors who had experienced transition within the past five years, entering churches that varied in size and cultural character while being in the same denomination. This study utilized semi-structured interviews with twelve pastors in the Reformed Church in America focusing on leadership skills and transition, power and authority dynamics, and staff relations. The study revealed that the transition from solo to senior pastorate affects personal and professional aspects of the pastor's life. The interviews focused on how church planting impacts the planters, spouses and their marriages.
