A literature review was conducted that centered on the methods of preparation and delivery of sermons that would be beneficial to chaplains in the field. The study followed a qualitative research method, utilizing semi-structured interviews with six chaplains, analyzed in a constant comparative method. The research found that chaplains delivered their sermons extemporaneously, often without notes, and utilized oral methods of preparation grounded upon their own personal devotions and prayer. The research found six broad categories of issues related to religious pluralism, and exposed how chaplains themselves have been transformed, how their relationships have been affected, and how their preaching, teaching, counseling and public prayers have been influenced as a result of the religiously diverse environment. Research was conducted through a literature search.  The results were presented in a form of a seven-session divorced/separated group seminar focusing on: grief and depression, loneliness, guilt and rejection, anger and bitterness, identity and self worth, sexuality, and future goals.
