The research consisted of a qualitative study in which five families which include a mentally handicapped child were interviewed separately to explore their experiences with God and with local churches. Research was conducted through a literature search.  The results were presented in a form of a seven-session divorced/separated group seminar focusing on: grief and depression, loneliness, guilt and rejection, anger and bitterness, identity and self worth, sexuality, and future goals.
