One of the most pernicious challenges of listening to sermons is distraction due to smartphone addiction. The purpose of this study is to examine how adult congregants of a local church engage in sermons amid distractions. The study employed qualitative research methods with fourteen adult congregants using semi-structured interviews analyzed with the constant comparative method. The research explored neurological, psychological and spiritual issues induced by digital technology. The traditional house church, born in persecution from the government, with its emphasis on separation from the world and zealous personal piety, is no longer able to effectively reach the new generation with the gospel. The purpose of this study was to explore how Christians apply sermons in the workplace. This study was a qualitative study, employing a semi-structured interview protocol with eight individuals employed in a variety of profession. Data was analyzed using the constant-comparative method. The Bible uses many different motivations to move Christians towards obedience, such as the promise of rewards and the threat of consequences. Some of these motives do not seem 'Christ-centered' to some at first glance and thus are often neglected by so called 'Christ-centered' preachers. This study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with five pastors in the Reformed Church in America. The review of literature and analysis of the five interviews focused on three key areas of motivations in preaching. The purpose of this study was to explore how preachers use evaluation for understanding how pastoral relationships influence preaching. The study followed a qualitative research method, utilizing semi-structured interviews with six pastors, analyzed in a constant comparative method. The research explored perceptions of the pastoral relationship, evaluation, emotional intelligence, and ongoing sermon preparation. Postmodern authors have noted a significant change in Western culture, affecting world view and specifically denying the existence of an over-arching explanation of reality known as metanarrative. This study employed a qualitative research design interviewing twelve Teaching Elders of the PCA. The findings revealed a strong commitment to the Reformed value that scripture alone is sufficient as a source for the content of sermons. The research consisted of an examination of the order of salvation with biblical, theological and historical considerations, and tests measuring participants' understanding of the process with follow-up focus groups afterwards.
