A program evaluation instrument was prepared in the form of a survey that was included in every teacher's manual of the beginner, primary and junior curriculum during the summer 2005 quarter (June, July, August).  Through the use of thirty definitive statements and three open-ended questions, the evaluation instrument examined the quality and effectiveness of four areas of the curriculum as observed by the teacher: the teacher's manual, the learner's manual, the make and take portion, and the visual aids.  The author found that the curriculum researched did not help the teacher teach the Bible as accurately, plainly, age-appropriately and applicationally as it should. While the major cause of this is a lack of biblical, theological truth applied at the pastoral level, the result of it is the disappearance of an important spiritual foundation necessary for the development and maintenance of spiritual stability in the modern church.  The practice of worship in the Reformed Church initially was driven by a perspective fixed on a high view of God and characterized by a formal-liturgical style. That historical heritage was lost over time because changing perspectives allowed the introduction of a variety of styles that were heavily influenced by social and technological developments. These new and different worship expressions increasingly have ignored the important and unchanging biblical view of worship in favor of yielding to a demand for a more emotional experience. More importantly, the current trend is causing the church to become accustomed to the absence of an applied theology of worship. That theology is necessary for making good decisions regarding appropriate expressions of worship in the personal life and in the life of the local church for years to come.  An examination of the biblical data from a historical and grammatical perspective revealed that worship is the expression of a Christian's commitment to a lifestyle of venerating God through an unceasing remembrance of his glory, a willing submission to his lordship, and a conscious life of spiritual service. Thus, the worship of God is designed to be the single most dominant spiritual feature of one's personal life and therefore the faith life of the church throughout the generations. This understanding is essential to promoting and sustaining healthy faith, so it must constantly be reaffirmed in the evangelical church. The most effective way to do that is in the training phase of present and future church leaders. The development and evaluation of a seminary training course on The Theology and Practice of Worship is designed to meet that need."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130749623074816,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:36:33.241Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:20:43Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:39:45Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cc244f03-da59-4861-b7dd-cc1eda8f5728","accessControl_ssim":["4f5f64c8-0db7-4cfb-baba-d50505c02125"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["'The life of Jesus for children': an evaluation of a Bible study for Bucks area"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:20:42Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:59:54Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e6a3baca-cda5-41d0-b3d5-491367f6db41"],"hasLease_ssim":["e2724632-942c-4210-902f-162103dcabeb"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["John W Reed"],"year_tesim":["2006"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Gerald R Schmoyer"],"publisher_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Education--Curricula","Christian education of children","Christian education--Teaching methods","Christian education"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The effectiveness of the Home Schoolers Bible class in Doylestown, Pennsylvania has been evaluated. If was found that these Bible studies have been successful in communicating Bible information to the children and also that is it being applied to their lives."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130954204446720,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:39:48.345Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:44:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:43:59Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"f7e0909e-7887-48f2-ad3d-cad679f7d41b","accessControl_ssim":["0ec1c727-c469-448c-ac25-716f1256ace9"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Development and evaluation of a course in personal Bible study"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:44:06Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:12:48Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["4593da0e-9bd9-49c2-b5c8-ec2d13545c1b"],"hasLease_ssim":["e68ead2f-a075-4a20-9348-b857578d91e7"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Mark S Young"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Tony L Carr"],"publisher_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Education--Curricula","Christian education--Teaching methods","Spiritual formation","Christian education","Bible--Study"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Many experience the value of God's Word today as a treasure and His gift to man.  Yet many today neglect it.  This project provides one means of seeking to address this problem.  This research measured the value of training people to study the Bible, specifically whether developmental training in personal Bible study methods would improve student attitudes toward their personal Bible study.  It also measured whether the training would improve student habits in their personal Bible study. Following the development of the training course and the curriculum to be used, the research was designed to utilize a survey questionnaire constructed with a Likert-scale of response options.  It also included multiple-choice options, as well as reverse scored items.  The survey data were gathered for two class groups and a non-trained control group to increase the breadth of sample survey and comparison. The survey was used as a pre-test and post-test within the class groups, but only as a post-test with the control group.  Additional qualitative data were gathered through focus group feedback from each class group and instruments that utilized open-ended questions, specifically -- a Bible study inventory that was used as a pre-test and post-test and a self-reported post-course evaluation form.  This study found that the training was effective in improving the habits of Bible study for one class group.  It was also effective in improving student habits and skills of relating the Bible to one's life and world for one class group.  The research showed the training was not effective in improving the attitudes of students in either class."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131220980006912,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:44:02.762Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:44:06Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:24:45Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"217915a3-d677-4fa4-b3f2-0f9f5f146486","accessControl_ssim":["987d3af6-9ea6-404a-b84d-7c184246d366"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Design \u0026 evaluation of a training manual to instruct children in basic biblical doctrines"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:44:06Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:07:40Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2f4e5b17-04da-4a9b-9f9e-777fb4fd5ea1"],"hasLease_ssim":["a373bbe2-e62a-4167-94f5-f1b7aeea3a69"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Andrew B Seidel"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Robert W Oliver"],"publisher_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Education--Curricula","Evangelical Free Church of America","Dispensationalism","Catechetics","Christian education"],"language_tesim":["English"],"alternative_title_tesim":["Design and evaluation of a training manual to instruct children in basic biblical doctrines"],"abstract_tesim":["This dissertation project sought to develop a dispensational catechism to teach children biblical doctrine. The project consisted of the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of the course and of a yoked mentoring program. The mentoring program was designed to complement the knowledge acquisition gained from the course by developing relevant character traits and ministry skills. Data gathered from both proteges (course participants) and mentors using various data collection tools strongly supported the case of mentoring as a feasible and effective complement to classroom teaching."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131268212064256,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:44:47.806Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":13,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Ana Maria Campos","hits":1,"label":"Ana Maria Campos"},{"value":"Benjamin C Shin","hits":1,"label":"Benjamin C Shin"},{"value":"Chitwood, Charles S.","hits":1,"label":"Chitwood, Charles S."},{"value":"Ditmar Pauck","hits":1,"label":"Ditmar Pauck"},{"value":"Evan L Buja","hits":1,"label":"Evan L Buja"},{"value":"Gerald R Schmoyer","hits":1,"label":"Gerald R Schmoyer"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[{"value":"Fidelity","hits":1,"label":"Fidelity"}],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Education--Curricula","hits":13,"label":"Education--Curricula"},{"value":"Christian education","hits":6,"label":"Christian education"},{"value":"Theological seminaries","hits":4,"label":"Theological seminaries"},{"value":"Christian education--Teaching methods","hits":3,"label":"Christian education--Teaching methods"},{"value":"Christian life","hits":2,"label":"Christian life"},{"value":"Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","hits":2,"label":"Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":13,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Dallas Theological Seminary","hits":13,"label":"Dallas Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":13,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"2007","hits":3,"label":"2007"},{"value":"2005","hits":2,"label":"2005"},{"value":"1999","hits":1,"label":"1999"},{"value":"2000","hits":1,"label":"2000"},{"value":"2001","hits":1,"label":"2001"},{"value":"2004","hits":1,"label":"2004"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Dallas Theological Seminary","hits":13,"label":"Dallas Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":13,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Dallas Theological Seminary","hits":13,"label":"Dallas Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":13,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":2,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":2,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":13,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":false}}}
