This project studied the association between prayer for non-Christians and evangelistic attitudes and behaviors. Does a directed focus upon evangelistic prayer increase intrinsic  evangelistic attitudes and behaviors toward people without faith? Does prayer increase receptivity towards non-Christians -- an attitude change that leads to behavior change? Research focused upon qualitative analysis in case study methodology. It was anticipated that the selected churches would have: a professionally trained appointed leader and trained laypersons; a safe environment for hope and healing; a clear pathway for people to find help; and the churches would use both prepackaged and their own written programs/materials. The research method and design was a case study of these three churches using interviews, direct observations and documentation such as websites and print materials. The goal was to gather the best practices from these church ministries and prayerfully seek to directly apply various organizational and functional traits to Wildwood Community Church in Norman and in the surrounding areas. This research sought to discover how the selected churches structure and execute their care and counseling ministries. In addition, this research endeavored to learn new ways of incorporating staff and laypeople as leaders and workers in Wildwood's Care and Counseling Ministry. A survey instrument was administered before teaching a twelve week course, and then re-administered after the course. The data from the pre- and post-tests were compared for change. Data were also compared across various subgroups to ascertain contributing factors of that change. This method of sermon preparation was a comprehensive approach integrating the benefits of long-term planning with an extended homiletical method. It mapped out a quarter of the year's preaching calendar and then staggered each sermon's preparation period, stretching it out over weeks instead of days. All of this was done with the hope that each stage of the expository process would be accomplished, and that the overall result would be an expository sermon with increased quality in both design and delivery. The research sought to assess the extent to which long-term sermon preparation increased the sermon quality. The results were incongruent and hence inconclusive. The quantitative research did not strongly support the hypothesis that long-term sermon preparation increases sermon quality in design and delivery. The qualitative assessment, however, did support the hypothesis strongly. Many of these traditional mentoring programs, though effective in the past, no longer meet the needs of young women. This qualitative research project focused on selected postmodern women and explored the manner in which their unique worldview shapes their mentoring preferences. Although each of these multiethnic churches have come to the same conclusion regarding the importance of being united and inclusive based on their biblical understanding of the New Testament, they have important differences in their strategies. Upon closer examination of each of these representative multiethnic churches, one finds variations because of differing motivations for doing multiethnic ministry. This study focuses on examining these variations. This dissertation shows how one church in Norman, Oklahoma intentionally developed a strategy to leverage electronic media resources in an attempt to further their chief discipleship goals related to helping people worship, connect, and serve. The hypotheses anticipated that participation in the electronic media program would reveal a positive relationship in sermon retention and application, experience of group life, and involvement in service. To determine the validity of these hypotheses, a pre-test/post-test was designed to evaluate the change in sixty demographically diverse participants after a one-month period in the electronic media program in July 2010. After the results of the survey were examined, the hypothesis concerning a positive relationship between participation in the electronic media program and sermon retention and application was confirmed. Thus two hypotheses were studied using the case study method in two 'vision achieving' churches: (1) There is an association between those hiring decision-makers in the local church who pray and the church actually fulfilling its vision; and (2) There is an association between those hiring decision-makers in the local church who use best business hiring practices and a church actually fulfilling its vision.
