Their congregations were tested before and after to determine the level of impact the training and mentoring provided.  The two 10-minute congregational surveys were conducted at Sunday morning worship services using the same pretest and posttest questions. The eight-session program (including interview, group instruction, a six-part fable, individualized feedback, action-learning, and reflection) was based on Jesus' principles of leadership development as evidenced in his development of the twelve disciples. Sixteen pastoral staff participated in the four-month program and were pretested and posttested using both quantitative and qualitative measurements. Included in the training program are a two and one-half day seminar for church planters and their spouses, and a twelve-unit curriculum taught by the church planters to their respective core groups.  The researcher used a Likert Scale, and objective test, key informant field interviews, and field observations to evaluate the training program. All these men are working to fulfill academic requirements for denominational ordination in a four-year program using the theological education by extension approach. In measurements made over a six-month period, both attitudinal and cognitive changes were noted in the men.
