The intent was that changes in them will make Advent Presbyterian's church culture more evangelistic. Participants' relationship to evangelism, experience in the class, and efforts to witness were studied within a phenomenological framework, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methods. Quantitative results were inconclusive, due primarily to the sample size. Qualitative content analysis of participant statements and actions, however, yielded positive results. The author offers an analysis of church membership decline which is linked to congregational over-dependence on the proclamation model of evangelism, and the failure to engage in relationship-based growth strategies. The six-session program (including a twelve-chapter story, reflection questions, and group discussion) was based on biblical theology of mission and work as well as core concepts in the Business as Mission movement. Fifteen marketplace leaders participated in the three-month program. participants. Participants were pretested and posttested using both quantitative and qualitative measurements. Two projects of home repair were secured with 33 people participating and 19 serving as a comparison group. Both groups received identical training and completed a Likert scale pretest and posttest questionaire. A change in members' attitudes was measured through data and methodological triangulation,  using personal interviews, observation, and testing, thus combining both qualitative and quantitative methods. Methods: The author conducted a case study of the International Christian Fellowship of Caracas and a survey of forty-two other expatriate ministries in order to evaluate the missionary potential of international churches. Included is a theological and theoretical search for a model of expatriate ministry that can be used in outreach to indigenous peoples that leads to the planting of a national church. The project administers an evangelism aptitude test to members of a relational evangelism seminar; the 15 members with highest scores become mentors to the 15 members with lowest scores. The behavioral change targeted in this thesis was measured by two questionnaires distributed after two 'Friendship Sunday' worship services to which members of the local congregation had been encouraged to invite their 'seeker' friends.  The only difference between the first Sunday and the second was the treatment, the (ten) sermons.  The measure of success was a 10 percent increase in the number of church members who invited a 'seeker.'  By that measure the project failed. The researcher trained a team to befriend and evangelize this target group using relational evangelism methods and larger group activities. Emphasis was given to using contemporary methods which would appeal to the audience's felt needs. At the conclusion of the research, the target group was surveyed and compared with a control group of similar people.
