The eight-session program (including interview, group instruction, a six-part fable, individualized feedback, action-learning, and reflection) was based on Jesus' principles of leadership development as evidenced in his development of the twelve disciples. Sixteen pastoral staff participated in the four-month program and were pretested and posttested using both quantitative and qualitative measurements. The coaching helped participants do evangelism consistent with their approach to working with others as indicated by the DISC Classic Personal Profile System 2800. Quantitative and qualitative measures were used. Coaching sessions focused on current personal evangelism efforts of the participants. The Specific Interpersonal Trust Scale (SITS) measured the levels of trust both before and after the mentoring program.  The SITS scores failed to support the hypothesis; the scale was also faulty as a measurement tool. This thesis examines the biblical validity of mentoring and andragogy, and assesses the effect of a self-study, andragogical mentoring course, written by the researcher, on the mentoring commitment and competency of Australian Baptist church leaders. Forty leaders, including seventeen pastors, completed the course and were tested both before and after the course for their mentoring ability (commitment, knowledge and skills).
