Results from the NEO-PI-R appear to support a null hypothesis. Results from Canfield's (1999) Calmness Questionnaire suggest that changes were slight. A group of sixteen mid-life men were administered the Tennessee Self-Concept Scale.  The group was then divided into test and control groups of eight men.  The test group met in a weekly counseling session with the author where basic relationship building skills were implemented for twelve weeks.  At the end of twelve weeks, the entire sample was again administered the Scale.
