Ten sermons were preached: five were formatted inductively, and five deductively.  Retention of data presented was measured by a ten-question test which was administered immediately following each sermon presented.  Each test consisted of eight true or false and two multiple choice questions.  Statistical t-tests were used to compare the mean score of the inductive and deductive sermon formats. The Specific Interpersonal Trust Scale (SITS) measured the levels of trust both before and after the mentoring program.  The SITS scores failed to support the hypothesis; the scale was also faulty as a measurement tool. A sponsorship model was tested where hosts from the church made regular contacts with newcomers over a period of four months. Success in integration was measured by objective and subjective measures of involvement and belonging.  The sponsor contacts with newcomers were evaluated according to quality of contact.  The hypothesis was that success in integration would correlate with contact quality. They fail to show how the preaching of the Word has anything to do with going to work, raising a family, paying bills, or any of the myriad of problems that we face today. The question then is, what is relevant preaching?  A biblically relevant sermon is a sermon that meets needs by relating the principles of Scripture to the human condition. This project used active research in the form of questionnaires to elicit the response of the congregation to felt-need sermons. Measurement was gained from analysis of scores from identical pretest and posttest questionnaires.  The project realized change in an increased knowledge of human sexuality and an understanding of sexuality in the context of creation. The project measured the effectiveness of a potential solution.  The researcher designed and assessed a three-month procedure for training six lay 'ministry consultants' to be prepared to guide adult members of Faith Baptist Church through a course that teaches a process for identifying ministry niches that employ their spiritual resources.  Evaluation took place through a postseminar, objective examination, observation studies, and tape-recorded interviews. The premise applied was that a congregation needs to have opportunity to interact with the creation of its own unique mission statement to ensure the validity and implementation of its mission statement.  The developmental components included an initial all-church survey, an advisory council of key leadership representatives, an adult Sunday Bible school curriculum, a sermon series, deacon home meetings, congregational meetings, a subsequent all-church survey and a short quiz to test congregational ability to articulate the summary slogan of the church's mission statement. The hypothesis was D plus S would be greater than S (D=drama and S=sermon).  The results of the study (which included well-defined control and experimental groups, and 1,397 individual surveys) lent confirmation to the positive effect of drama as an effective teaching aid.
