The author conducted a project on the effect of a 12-week cognitive behavioral intervention on Seventh-day Adventist Church members that helps them properly and biblically discern God's communication with them in a way that increases their intimacy with God and avoids the extremes of hearing God's voice in other voices or not hearing from God at all. A mixed methods approach was used and the results showed a greater level of attachment to God was achieved. Qualitative feedback suggested participants believed they were better able to discern communication from God after completing the intervention."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Denver Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7af129f-938f-4821-9463-dc6ded35d563"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133851485995008,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:25:51.408Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T17:58:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:17:34Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1d5e7227-78a5-42fc-a093-29a9d56e3f0f","accessControl_ssim":["d540f292-75e8-4819-823c-e9fd78d2bdaf"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Extending beyond self: resiliency in Christian adoptive parents"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T17:58:06Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:59:54Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d703f90b-6fdc-45ba-8dd7-213d33bbf263"],"hasLease_ssim":["8c23e605-82b7-4895-9b49-69fd58361a9a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Denver Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Fred Gingrich"],"year_tesim":["2018"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Harold Hyung Park"],"keyword_tesim":["Relation (Theology)","Openness"],"publisher_tesim":["Denver Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Belonging (Social psychology)","Trust in God","Resilience (Personality trait)","Adoptive parents","Adjustment (Psychology)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Constructivist grounded theory was used to generate a substantive theoretical model for the development of resilience and coping strategies of Christian adoptive parents. 'Resilience: Extending Beyond Self' provides a unique theory which illustrates processes in response to adoption-related parenting challenges. The core category that emerged from the research was 'seeking connection.' Two other categories were also raised: 'turning it over to God' and 'seeking new perspectives.' These three areas represent protective factors which increase the likelihood of desirable outcomes in high-stress parenting situations. The model theorizes that the underlying motivation for these three categories is to find support and belonging."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Denver Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7af129f-938f-4821-9463-dc6ded35d563"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133333185363968,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:17:37.118Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":8,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Harold Hyung Park","hits":2,"label":"Harold Hyung Park"},{"value":"Christopher B English","hits":1,"label":"Christopher B English"},{"value":"Donald R Kerns","hits":1,"label":"Donald R Kerns"},{"value":"Gerald J.
