The research led to the development of three training modules: 'communication styles,' 'the vision and ministry of CBHMS,' and 'building a support team'. A prayer survey given before and after the training measures changes in the prayer practice of the trainees. An in-service faculty development program is prepared and a field study is conducted with a group of twelve participants. It argues that all churches should equip laymen to preach expository sermons for both theological and practical reasons.  The author conducted a seminar in a Christian (Plymouth) Brethren context.  The twenty hour seminar taught the basics of Bible study methods, hermeneutics and homiletics.  It followed generally the model of biblical preaching developed by Haddon Robinson. Student scores on the testing tool increased greatly. The speaking abilities of these individuals were tested by means of the Bryan-Wilke Scale for Rating Public Speeches before and after their exposure to the weekly training sessions.
