This representative group of Christians consisted of volunteers who were compared to a control group from the rest of the congregation.  An educational measurement tool to evaluate the results preceded and followed the course.  The purpose of the project was considered to be fulfilled if statistical improvement in self-esteem of an average of ten percent for the group as a whole was obtained. The author began with a biblical apologetic for numerical growth. Then he analyzed five theological-spiritual and ten sociological factors that could enhance growth.  The author investigated four urban, neighborhood churches in accordance with the above factors, through questionnaires, statistical and historical records, and personal observation. The program was evaluated by means of a pre- and post-test family life survey.  The survey was designed to measure knowledge, attitudes, and skills for family living. Percentages of correct answers on the pre- and post-tests were determined and compared. Content retention was measured through a pre- and post-test.  Personal impact was measured by interviews.  A series of ten sermons was preached, evenly divided in style between narrative and propositional.  It was concluded that the actual content was more important than the form it was presented in.  Neither form rated higher in specific impact. All involved in the research believed their intimacy increased, they communicated on a different level, and their ability to resolve conflict increased. However, marital satisfaction only improved in couples where just one spouse was an Adult Child of an Alcoholic. In both were, their marital satisfaction did not improve. Using quasi-experimental design, 42 high school aged participants formed control and treatment groups. The treatment group participated in a six-week education study on the Bible's teaching on sexuality. Peer leaders were included. Biblical knowledge and sexually permissive attitudes were measured before and after the treatment. Quantitative analysis revealed significant increase in biblical knowledge yet no significant decrease in sexually permissive attitudes. In Britain they widely hold that as age, church background and Christian commitment diminish, a positive response increases to topical (as compared to expository) preaching and the presence of multimedia. Eight sermons were preached, four in each style with multimedia as a variable. Eighty people completed questionnaires after each sermon, with twelve follow-up interviews. The research produced no conclusive data, but there were clear indications of preference for topical sermons as age reduced and expository sermons as age increased. No patterns were discernable regarding multimedia. A sample of 17 couples attended four workshops over five weeks. Training in family of origin issues, the nuclear family emotional system, triangulation, and differentiation of self was combined with teaching on a biblical theology of marriage and exposure to Abraham's genogram. The PAIR (Personal Assessment of Intimacy in Relationships) Inventory and a questionnaire were administered.
