Therefore, lay people lacked confidence in teaching it and members were hesitant to receive teaching from someone not seminary trained.  A twelve-session teacher training seminar was conducted over four consecutive Sundays.  Five Filipino ethnic Chinese Episcopalian adults were trained and tested.  The responses of ten local church members to the trainees' teaching were also tested. The five trainees taught before and after the twelve-session seminar. Christian couples age 25-54, married 1.5-31 years, are assigned to concurrent groups for husbands and wives, while wives from the same sample are assigned to a group for women only. Based on research in Psalms scholarship, poetics, speech, homiletics, and theology, the project devises preaching strategies appropriate to the genre in order to prepare, present, and evaluate response to five propositional and five genre-sensitive sermons.
