A group of sixteen mid-life men were administered the Tennessee Self-Concept Scale.  The group was then divided into test and control groups of eight men.  The test group met in a weekly counseling session with the author where basic relationship building skills were implemented for twelve weeks.  At the end of twelve weeks, the entire sample was again administered the Scale. All these men are working to fulfill academic requirements for denominational ordination in a four-year program using the theological education by extension approach. In measurements made over a six-month period, both attitudinal and cognitive changes were noted in the men. Friendships were pursued first among church members and then among those outside of the church from community and business contacts.  Ten class sessions were conducted which were comprised of lectures, discussions, role-play and outside of class assignments. Two lecturers from the community shared insights on making friends and how to overcome barriers. She then examined personnel structures from this retrospective stance.  She drew conclusions pertaining to each department which will promote care of personnel and accomplishment of the task for which the mission exists--Bible translation.  The author concludes that the organization's low termination rate (1.296 percent) highlights their current proactive management procedures. The Navigator 2:7 Bible Study Series was the methodology used in this study. Southern Gables Evangelical Free Church, Denver, Colorado, provided the test groups in which growth or non-growth in discipleship was measured.  Measurement of progress was based on a testing instrument developed around the Navigator 'wheel' illustration. Each principle was developed from exegesis of relevant selections of Scripture.  A worship project of five and one-half months involved the membership of the First Baptist Church, Laramie, Wyoming, as a test for the use of the principles.  Based on the response from worship surveys and use of worship guides, the principles were determined as valid for application in the three stated categories.
