The thesis develops the biblical/theological basis for healthy sexuality with a theoretical basis. The research design covers a three month time period. Couples were tested before the course and then again after three month. It was hypothesized that the incorporation of biblical teaching and cultural aspects of forgiveness would provide a forgiveness paradigm that could increase the motivation to forgive among the target community. However, the increase of scores in the willingness to forgive after the workshop was not statistically significant. This study hypothesized that a biblically oriented marriage enrichment course concerning relationship self-regulation (RSR) would increase both personal responsibility for marriage and marital satisfaction in marriage and that RSR, as a measure of personal responsibility, would positively correlate with marital satisfaction (MS). Forty-three couples were assessed on their relationship self-regulation and marital satisfaction, pre and post course. A twelve-week study of 189 couples from Park Community Church in Chicago, Illinois, comparing three groups: a self-directed group, consisting of 63 couples who did Couple Checkup on their own; a discussion group, consisting of 63 couples who did Couple Checkup and discussed with a small group; and a control group that did not do Couple Checkup. Paired t-tests were performed, comparing pretest to posttest ratings on the ENRICH COUPLE scale. They have immeasurable value in spite of their inherent sinful inclinations. It was hypothesized that helping them see the difference between their beliefs and their behaviors in relation to their roles as men would develop a cognitive dissonance that would lead to a change in their behaviors. Five spiritual disciplines were identified in the lives of David and his mighty men and Jesus and his disciples and incorporated into the Cavetime Training Program (CTP).
