A significant relationship among these three elements, previously overlooked in the psychological and pastoral care literature, was hypothesized.  The psychoanalytic concept of transference and the theological use of metaphor were used to examine these connections.  Taking a qualitative research approach, the author interviewed four female pastoral counselors. Data was analyzed using six themes of sibling/work relationships which emerged in the literature review. Research indicated significant experience of positive collegial relationships with male and female peers and supervisors.  Women most active in the Association indicated the greatest positive experience and the highest level of concern about collegial issues. Research gathered demographic data and identified historical dynamics about the entrance and increasing participation of women in AAPC. A pre-test/post-test design is employed to test the hypothesis that there would be improvement in the areas of: 1) affective communication; 2) problem solving communication; and 3) global stress.  The 'Marital Satisfaction Inventory' is used before the weekend and ten weeks later to determine whether change occurs. Test results are supplemented by four individual interviews.
