The project utilized a Preaching Advisory Team (PAT) recruited from the church membership to work with the pastor in strengthening his efforts in this area. Over a ten week period the PAT both critiqued sermon applications from messages preached by the pastor and also worked collaboratively with him in the creation of sermon applications for upcoming messages. The method of stimulating this growth consisted in the formation of two groups. The study is interdisciplinary in approach, drawing from scriptural tradition, critical evaluation of trained/untrained auditors along with insights from modern communication theories.  The basic premise of the project is that effective biblical pulpit communication can be achieved in the church.  The project reviews fifteen weeks of designated sermons from the book of Hebrews.  Talk-back sessions followed the preaching of the messages.
