Seven two-person teams composed of church officers carried the consecrated elements directly to the shut-ins each Communion Sunday. In this way, we not only hoped to give our recipients the joy of worship and visitation but also the consolation of knowing they are cared for by their church. The stated goal of the project was to include church members with impaired mobility, and nursing home residents unable to attend local fellowships, as ministry participants in a weekly visitation program. Surveys employed to measure the effectiveness of the project's development and implementation provided statistical insight into the effectiveness and feasibility of such an endeavor. The project included 3 phases: planning, preparation and program.  During the final phase, the project director, his nine project assistants, and a trained corps of thirty volunteers from the church made approximately seventy ministry contacts to the church's military families during periods of job-related separation.
