A brief comprehension of AAP-A clergy couples' uniqueness is presented. Spiritual formation, conservatism, and expressive love are matters of concern for AAP-A clergy couples facing marital anxiety. The biblical theme of expressive love is the framework for understanding the personhood in need and key to marital health. Family systems theories support biblical principles to formulate a counseling approach that elucidates expressive love. Clergy couples are growing in numbers in many denominations in the Church.  Statistics show many clergy couples are not experiencing healthy relationship, lifestyles, or ministries.  In the first phase of the Project clergy couples came together to examine and share the concerns and challenges they felt were unique to and being faced by clergy couples.  The couples developed a support group and felt understood for who they were and who God has called them to be.  Through a series of meetings, communications, and group sharing, the clergy couples brought healing, nurturing, and encouragement to one another.
