Blessing is choosing life as God's beloved. God loves life and created us for life. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Listening prayer leads to choosing Jesus and experiencing a way of life so contagious that one overflows with life and blessing to others. Five weeks of daily spiritual blessing exercises are developed and tested by eight participants. The exercises lead to an inner experience of God and an outward life of radical discipleship, obedience, and service."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132782766850048,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:08:52.198Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:26:17Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:38:25Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5225c819-171d-4bac-86dd-b098815c18d1","accessControl_ssim":["14f8dad3-bf82-4380-90fc-9964f6d61030"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["In the steps of Loyola: a Protestant retreat manual"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:26:16Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:32:22Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b3ba0c9f-02dd-43f9-a77a-93112b076d26"],"hasLease_ssim":["9bd39255-422f-403a-b728-e31f4b8bca4d"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Marc T Haynes"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Protestantism","Spiritual retreats","Spiritual exercises","Ignatius, of Loyola, Saint, 1491-1556","Spiritual formation","Spiritual life--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["I have been inspired by The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola to create a Protestant, Christ-centered retreat manual. This retreat manual was designed to lead people into a deeper spirituality. The group that tested this out was comprised of volunteers from the church I pastor, the Fulton Alliance Church. The expectation of the retreat manual was to allow the retreatants to grow in the Lord as well as to serve him in the context of the local church. The retreat manual was divided into three sections: salvation, sanctification, and vocation. Section one was designed to give clarity to salvation. Section two was designed to lead to further present sanctification. Section three was designed to assist the retreatants in identifying and applying their unique vocation. Upon examining the results of those who participated in the application of the retreat manual, I concluded that this project was successful in attaining the previously mentioned goals."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130870373941248,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:38:28.398Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T03:16:04Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:11:21Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"f4e2bfa2-738d-4c10-bddb-13e1d2e436f3","accessControl_ssim":["8012ddac-9496-49ab-b650-333bb1b05e2c"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Power for proclamation: insights from the Puritans on spiritual disciplines and preaching"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T03:16:03Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:07:26Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["7df37a25-1a6a-4292-91a2-dcbafb309074"],"hasLease_ssim":["05ff513a-b561-4c67-85fd-3e5016b5c6aa"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["William Nigel Kerr"],"year_tesim":["1993"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Glenn E Layne"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Puritans","Spiritual exercises","Preaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The author argues that the primary challenge to contemporary preaching is spiritual, and examines the pattern of spiritual preparation for preaching in the ministries of four representative Puritan figures: William Perkins, Richard Baxter, Thomas Shepard and Cotton Mather.
