The significant time period for the establishment of this relationship, is during the first two years of a pastor's new charge.  As church and pastor get to know each, the pastor will need to discover the limits of his authority and establish the most effective means of influencing the church towards a common goal. The author used the qualitative phenomenological research method.  He used data received from brigade chaplains and assistants, as well as data from divisional reports. The author's method of study includes educated sources such as theological commentaries, lexicons, secular and religious reference books, journals, newspapers, the internet and personal interviews. The conclusion the author reaches is that the debate centered on biblical interpretation of scripture is subjective to one's Christian faith persuasion. The biblically orthodox Christian faith belief opposes homosexuality and supports the traditional family value system. The unorthodox Christian viewpoint favors a revisionist theology that redefines homosexual practice as ordained by God and therefore morally acceptable. It begins by tracing the foundation of its mission throughout its historical roots and demonstrates the profound effects that the YMCA has been able to accomplish when it has operated according to its mission of putting Christian principles into practice. It measures the mission knowledge and application within specific context of Countryside YMCA in Lebanon, Ohio and also examines other research to assess if the results are reflective of the movement as a whole. The conclusion revels that Countryside YMCA has drifted from its mission. Subjects addressed are calling to pastoral ministry, and competence/training for pastoral ministry. A literature review on the subject of leadership development is offered. In the spring of 2005 the congregation began a journey to transition from serving a Sunday afternoon community meal into creating a Sunday evening ministry, which involved: serving dinners to the community, creating a worship service targeted to the un-churched, and increasing the present food pantry. Interviews were conducted with persons currently living in intentional Christian community, discovering commitment to conflict resolution being key to their health. Many of these churches are in a declining status, often due to the removal of the historic gospel from the pulpits. It will take preaching the historic gospel of Jesus Christ from the pulpit once again to revitalize these churches. Towards that end, this project was undertaken to help cast a vision for revitalizing mainline churches and to encourage evangelical pastors to consider pursuing pulpits in mainline churches, to replant the gospel seed, and to revitalize these churches in order to reach communities for Christ. This thesis is targeted at church replanters and church replanter coaches. The project seeks to provide a theological framework on renewal as applied to mainline churches, address the practical aspects of equipping evangelical pastors to serve in mainline pulpits through a church replanter coaching curriculum, and to set this vision within a larger historical
