Combining these techniques with the Church Growth theories of Donald Gavran and his followers, the Church developed ideas of preaching to specific niche audiences and demographic groups.  In recent years there has been considerable conversation about what it means to be missional.  This thesis-project shows that the Bible presents a model of preaching that is appropriate to every age and culture. The purpose concerned understanding the state of spiritual formation practices among the missionaries as well as discerning the measure of influence they exert on the three aforementioned dimensions of missionary life. The project utilized the Spiritual Well Being Scale developed by Ellison and Paloutzian and a researcher-designed instrument to gather the information for statistical analysis and correlations. The results indicated that the practice of regular spiritual disciplines definitely influence spiritual well-being within the population of missionaries of Greater Europe Mission. However, with regard to perceived ministry effectiveness and retention, the results were mixed and only a weak relationship was indicated, which was insufficient to meet the criteria of this study for a valid correlation. The research is primarily directed towards etiology and focuses on adolescent and mass hysteria cases. This study found that individuals with Conversion Disorder seemed to experience depression-like symptoms. Furthermore, the results indicated that ongoing family and marital strife was significantly related to conversion disorder. The findings indicate a lack of conflict resolution skills to deal with the stress of the conflicts. The author contends that recovering addicts and ex-offenders must be drawn into the church. The paradigm of the separate Alcoholics Anonymous community, as the sole place of help, must change. Even simply renting a space to an Alcoholics Anonymous group in a church building is not enough. Building a church-planting culture in a confessional Lutheran Setting takes a look at the extent of the problem and offers a solution through exponential church planting. However, this thesis is not a 'how to' for church planters, churches or denominations. Nor does it address how denominations (Lutheran or otherwise) can and should plant churches. Rather, it primarily addresses how confessional Lutheran churches, specifically Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) churches have the privilege and the theology to plant churches exponentially. It is the author's prayer that WELS churches would be motivated to plant churches exponentially through the ideas shared in this thesis. This thesis explains the need and the theological implications of pursuing and implementing. It proposes and tests a model for a dismissal process and then evaluates that model. The model proposed consists of a four stage process: discernment, negotiation, dismissal, and reception. The thesis includes a case study on congregational anxiety using three congregations, one entering a discernment process, one amidst a discernment process and a third two years after being
