The knowledge the pastors have regarding the occurrence of dysfunctional families inside the churches, and about the ways how this situation affects them were researched. An evaluation to identify the dysfunctional level in the families from these churches was performed. The surveyed pastors accept the existence of dysfunctional families within the Christian church, recognizing that this affects its healthy development. It is concluded that the level of dysfunction found in the Christian families was not overwhelmingly serious, but it is significant due to pernicious behavioral patterns transmitted generationally. Six sermons were preached from Paul's Epistle to the Colossians for the thesis author's Community Presbyterian Church, Edison, New Jersey. Church members served on two evaluative teams. Research focused on Colossians scholarship; Christology from dogmatic and Pauline theology; expository and doctrinal preaching issues; and listener response.  Questionnaires tested knowledge of Pauline teachings; in-depth reviews of the 2006 sermons; and 2008 follow-up on personal application of Pauline teachings and evaluation of subsequent sermons. The task consists of four components.  First, to research and to formulate eight core biblical convictions that are essential for the task of expository preaching. Second, to research China and its culture, the Chinese mindset, and the house church movement. It also looks into the learning process of the rural people and the training resources in preaching. Third, to design a biblical preaching course targeting Chinese rural pastors who have a lower level of education. The training material is adapted from Dr. Haddon W. Robinson's step-by-step process as described in his book, Biblical Preaching. Many ministries have wholeheartedly embraced Internet technology through websites, blogs, live chats and a myriad of other applications. While thoughtful people have offered biblical perspective both endorsing and warning against this trend, there continues to be much need to carefully think about how new technologies can come alongside various aspects of ministry in a way that maximizes their benefits and minimizes their inherent dangers. This project explores how the Internet can enhance the impact of a preaching ministry by providing a forum to discuss the content of a sermon after it has been delivered. The goal is to provide a theological and practical curriculum to help current or future Pentecostal ministers prepare expository sermons. This project will argue that there are three components to preparing an effective expository sermon. These components are the preacher, the audience, and the message. Pentecostal preachers need to look at each of these components in order to prepare an effective expository sermon. Through a review of biblical literature it demonstrates the Bible's various techniques to create mental images to communicate God's truth. Through an examination of secular research and practices, the author demonstrates the importance of imagery in memory. Through a perusal of both ancient and modern history it demonstrates how skillful communicators across the ages have used imagery for effectiveness in communication. The author then applies the insights to homiletics. These churches may, however, be incorrectly applying general societal concerns about commitment to Christians who are seeking commitment. A substantial group of people in the current study desired to become church members, but, because of church leadership de-emphasis of formal membership, had limited avenues to express this element of their faith. Designed to assist church leaders and parishioners in finding new understanding and meaning in formal church membership, the study offers a biblical and theological guide for those struggling with the concept of church membership, as well as a review of significant literature relating to the subject. Two local churches were selected for a three hour seminar on church membership. Analysis of data revealed no antagonism to church membership; such antagonism may exist on the margins among those who would not attend such a
