There appears to be a catalytic relationship between spiritual conversations and the spiritual health of church leaders. To ascertain the impact of spiritual direction upon the church leader's spiritual formation, sixteen pastors and program staff received monthly spiritual direction for twelve months. Ninety-four percent reported aspects of spiritual growth. Today, women and girls (Christians included) are encouraged to flaunt their bodies and show as much flesh as possible. The once widely held virtue of modesty, which was introduced by God as a means of protection from indecency has become almost entirely unknown in the last fifty years. This study will address the challenges women and girls face living in a sexualized society and explore the sociological and cultural context within which women and girls are sexualized. Are women exercising freedom to dress as they please or are they simply buying into their own objectification? The effect of constant bombardment of sexualized images in mass media on women and girls is also explored. Bible application is prescriptive. What happens when the preacher faces a multiethnic audience? How can the preacher communicate the truth of scripture, if the audience doesn't share the common characteristics that facilitate communication and understanding? This thesis-project explores these and other related questions through a biblical/theological reflection on ethnicity and culture, its intersection with preaching, and a literature review of the available literature on Bible application, multiethnic ministry, intercultural communication theory, etc. Further, the insights gained form these sections were used to develop an article for publication."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132177074749440,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:59:14.565Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:04:33Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:53:18Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9b9a3075-0903-47bd-839f-a2a836d4c534","accessControl_ssim":["78355a07-a538-4880-9290-e7dbcbcea9c8"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The family and the child who needs to acculturate"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:04:28Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:40:55Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b4e4c546-35e4-4430-9f3c-7bfab2fc6425"],"hasLease_ssim":["ae8f88fa-851e-489c-81ec-9698b071e539"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Raymond F Pendleton"],"year_tesim":["2010"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jean-Frederic Romain"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Acculturation","Child psychology","Church work with immigrants"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Many immigrant children have had to experience the tension that is the result of a necessity to either acculturate or remain true to their indigenous cultures.
