The author is an ordained minister in the International Pentecostal Holiness Church (IPHC). Historically, the IPHC has been hostile to differing views from the one they currently hold, the 'classical' Pentecostal interpretation. However, there is currently a movement within the IPHC to be more appreciative of other evangelical, non-Pentecostal interpretations. The author used evangelical resources to develop a seminar to increase Pentecostals' understanding of evangelical, non-Pentecostal perspectives on the doctrine of baptism in the Holy Spirit, with emphasis on the issues of subsequence and initial physical evidence. The seminar brought the evangelical perspectives into dialogue with the 'classical' Pentecostal interpretation. The seminar was presented at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia, an IPHC college. The seminar participants were students from the School of Christian Ministries. Pre-test and post-test survey questionnaires were given prior to and immediately after the seminar. Out of 50 students, 26 (52%) indicated an increase in understanding of the evangelical, non-Pentecostal perspective."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131358301519872,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:46:13.722Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:10:02Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:33:05Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3b615893-a051-45ea-9919-570f7eb96916","accessControl_ssim":["4c0f5058-ab36-47b2-9d78-b5ad866d64e0"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Empowering Christian women to answer God's call to ministry within the context of the church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:10:00Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:51:17Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["7b3f864e-1cb8-402e-b1c2-453c6f8c5aa4"],"hasLease_ssim":["b17829b5-14aa-457a-a76b-7c5b67976662"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2010"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Marsha H Wood"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Sexism in religion","Women teachers","Women in church work","Women clergy","Ordination of women"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Women's progression in achieving leadership positions is relatively small in number. The method of study was qualitative, using a small group structure of four pastors in the United Methodist tradition. It applied the use of interview, journal, and questionnaire. The results showed a marked improvement in the perceived awareness of one's felt presence with God. It resulted in stated improved spiritual renewal by the pastors and in improved proclamation of the Word."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130542061649920,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:33:15.295Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:43:43Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:30:53Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"2f0deb25-1651-402f-bc1a-ab60d88c694d","accessControl_ssim":["1fc906d2-caf8-4522-9d71-e0837ba2ecf1"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Preaching that engages and instructs male listeners"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:43:42Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:30:11Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["dbfa62f7-5bac-4db0-a69a-6e24a72feda3"],"hasLease_ssim":["1af78133-a196-43cf-a316-cd7fa4cba28e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Haddon W Robinson"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Woodleigh H Volland"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Men--Religious life","Theological anthropology--Biblical teaching","Sex differences (Psychology)","Preaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis involves three objectives.
